The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of video feedback and cognitive review on the improvement of negative self-evaluation. Video feedback is known for an important factor in Cognitive Behavior Therapy(CBT) of social anxiety. When video feedback is used in the treatment for social anxiety disorder, it is generally preceded by cognitive preparation and followed by cognitive review. However experimental studies about video feedback only followed by cognitive review is lacking so far. In this study, 58 socially anxious students screened by Social Avoidance and Distress Scale(K-SADS) were asked to perform a short speech in front of a video camera. And then they were randomly assigned to one of three conditions, video feedback+cognitive condition(VF+CR), video feedback only condition(VF only) and control condition. As a result, participants of VF+CR condition evaluated their performance more positively than control condition. But students who received video feedback only showed no significant difference when compared to those of control condition in self-evaluation). This is more conspicuous in the results of physical of the rather than during the speech. In the further analysis, more the participants attitude toward the video feedback is positive, the video feedback and cognitive review was more effectful. With these results, the effect of video feedback that includes of cognitive review was discussed. Finally the clinical implication and several limitations of the present study were discussed.
